G in Graffiti Letters

Rendered in the Sedgwick Ave Display typeface, an open-source font. It is a reference shape, not a hand-drawn letter.
G is a C that has been given a hook, and the hook is the whole job. A weak spur makes the letter read as C, a heavy one makes it look like a six. In graffiti you can push the spur into a spike, an arrow or a full loop. The lowercase g offers a long tail below the baseline, which is the classic place for a flourish. Both forms reward a bold, confident curve.

How to draw a graffiti capital G
- 1Draw a leaning C-shaped skeleton, then add a horizontal bar that comes inward from the lower terminal.
- 2Choose the spur: a flat shelf, a drop-down spike or a hooked arrow that points back into the letter.
- 3Thicken the curve so it swells at the left and narrows toward the bar, with the bar as thick as the curve.
- 4Outline the whole body and keep the opening at the top right so the letter stays a G rather than a closed O.
- 5Fill, highlight the upper left, add a block along the bottom and a small arrow on the top terminal.
Tip: Draw the bar first as a thick horizontal line, then wrap the curve around it. It guarantees the letter has a G anchor before decoration begins.
How to draw a graffiti lowercase g
- 1Draw a round bowl at the x-height, then add a stem on its right side that continues below the baseline.
- 2Let the stem curve back to the left at the bottom to form a hook or a loop, in the descender space.
- 3Thicken the bowl and the stem, with the tail swelling slightly where it curves.
- 4Outline the combined shape and keep the bowl's counter open, since it is easy to close.
- 5Fill, add a highlight to the bowl, and finish the tail with an arrow or a flick that pushes under the next letter.
Tip: The tail of a lowercase g is the longest stroke in the alphabet, so use it to link to the following letter and sweep the whole word along.
What makes G awkward or easy
G has a lot of moving parts: a curve, a bar and a spur. Remove the bar and it is a C, remove the opening and it is an O. The spur must be clear and the bar must be heavy, or the letter drops its identity. On the lowercase side, the tail demands vertical space, so keep neighbouring letters clear of the descender zone.
Variations
A tag G is a loop and a hook in one stroke. A throw-up G is a thick C with a stubby bar and a single outline. A piece G may feature a spur turned into an arrow, a split-colour bar and a deep block shadow. Wildstyle G drags the tail across the word and can be unrecognisable except to those who know the style.
Common mistakes with graffiti G
The bar is too short and the G looks like a C with a dot.
Extend the bar at least halfway across the letter and give it the same thickness as the curve.
The mouth is closed and the letter looks like a six or an O.
Leave a clear gap at the upper right so the opening stays visible after outlining.
The lowercase tail is thin and ends abruptly.
Thicken the tail and finish it with a curl, flick or arrow that points toward the next letter.
The spur and the bar are drawn as separate pieces.
Draw them as one continuous stroke so the G looks fluid rather than assembled.
Ideas for graffiti G
G fits names like Gabe, Gia and Grace, and words like Graff and Glow. Practise the lowercase tail on its own: fill a page with ten different tails and choose the ones that hook neatly into a, o and e. Those combinations become reusable moves in your style.

Graffiti G you can copy and paste
No Unicode graffiti alphabet exists. For the closest copy-paste styles use bold gothic 𝕲 𝖌, the black square 🅶, or bubble letters Ⓖ ⓖ. They are fixed glyphs, so the spur and tail will not curl the way you can draw them.

- Graffiti AlphabetThe graffiti alphabet is a set of bold, connected letters that are deliberately distorted so they look fast, large and hard to copy.
